I am sorry I have not been diligent in my effort to keep this letter updated. I am going to try and be better in the future. I hope everyone had a great beginning to this year. It is already May! Pretty soon the summer will be over and we will wonder where those sunny, 75 degree days went.
Save the dates! The 6th Annual Nicole’s Ride will be held on May 19, 2007, and the 8th Annual Nicole Richards Charity Golf Outing is on September 12, 2007. Check out the “Registration” link for more information. I hope everyone can participate!
Update. My job is going very well. As I stated before, I am working for the Department of Defense (DoD) at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. It is actually called the Major General Emmet J. Bean Center, but everyone knows it as Ft. Ben. I am currently a staffing specialist for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), where I primarily recruit, rank, and hire new employees. I still love it. Sometimes it seems a little overwhelming, but I have met so many awesome people and even made some new friends, so it is all worth it. Plus, what I do helps support the solider overseas risking his or her life. And whether or not you agree with the reason they are over there, it is still a good feeling knowing that I support such an important cause. Feel free to learn more about DFAS at http://www.dfas.mil.
This winter was a busy
one. This is the fifth year that I am judging gymnastics meets for the
Indiana High School Athletic Association. The high school gymnastics season
ran from January until March; however, I judge USA Gymnastics as well. That
means I judged almost every weekend from January through April. It makes it
kind of tough to have a social life, but I manage. I wouldn’t have it any
other way though! I would never let my paralysis get in the way of it
what-so-ever!
Last year I said I wanted the golf outing to be the biggest yet! We achieved
that goal, but that also means this year’s outing needs to be even better! We
would like to make a significant contribution to the Emily Hunt Foundation,
which raises funds to support scientific research that seeks to find a cure
for paralysis. It is my absolute dream to one day get up out of my chair and
walk again. The Emily Hunt Foundation is one organization that could help make
this happen. Please support this cause and help make my dream come true.
I am looking forward to a
great summer, fall, and winter. I would like to thank everyone who has
participated! We are always in the process of updating the website, so make
sure you check out www.nrichards.com for more information. See you all real
soon!
